It will be more difficult to find a Canon negative scanner as opposed to Canon all-in-one scanner which also scans negatives and slides. There are not many models of dedicated negative scanners produced by Canon; the trend is towards having scanners which are designed for the scanning of documents as well as negatives.

Going on the Canon website, or other sale sites, it is not possible to find dedicated Canon negative scanners. There has been a trend towards very specific flatbed scanners as opposed to negative film scanners. They have dropped their 4000FS film scanner and introduced the 9950F in place of it. The 4000FS was designed to scan mounted 35 mm slides (up to 4 at a time) and 35 mm negatives. The color dpi resolution was 4000 and there was no provision for scanning uncut rolls of 35 mm film. The specific flatbed scanners have more functions and are more technologically advanced which is why they have taken over the market from negative scanners.

Most Canon scanners are enabled with unique software and essential functions which are useful when scanning negatives and slides. For instance the Canon CanoScan 8800F has high luminance white LED lights which means that there is no warm-up time required and you can start scanning immediately. It also has the option of allowing you to batch scan up to twelve 35 mm frames (negatives/positives), or up to four 35 mm slides (either positives or negatives) or six 22 cm film strips (120 roll film). With its sophisticated FARE in-built re-touching technology, it is also possible to digitally remove dust, scratches and other imperfections from old slides and negatives. This FARE technology would have also been found in a Canon negative film scanner, but would not have been as sophisticated.

Different scanner models come with different specifications. The Canon CanoScan 5600F has the same retouching technology as the 8800F and the same high luminance white LED source, but it different batch scan specifications. It allows up to six 35 mm frames or four 35 mm slides to be scanned simultaneously. It has the same high color dpi resolution of 4800 x 9600 as the 8800F and still costs less, costing about $150 while the 8800F goes for $200.

There are higher end models available. The CanoScan 9000F has a maximum film scanning resolution of 9600 x 9600 dpi. This means that the quality of the finished product is very good with sharp details. It has the same built in FARE 3.0 retouching technology and no warm up time. The higher color resolution will be main reason why it retails at a higher price of $250.

It is quite difficult to find models of Canon negative slide scanners on the internet or electronics and computer stores. Flatbed scanners which also allow film and slide scanning are more easily available.

The Canon CanoScan N670U Scanner can be a really incredible addition to your home or place of work. Its amazing, high-tech features can save you a great deal of time and the surprisingly impressive price can save you cash. The CanoScanN670U is light in weight and compact, being a bit larger and about an inch thicker than an A4 notebook.

The N670U’s diminutive size was made possible by the contact image sensor (CIS) technology, which makes use of LEDs to light up the image and eliminates the need for mirrors and luminescent lamps required by traditional CCD scanners. The scanner can be powered using a USB cable, without the need for a power connector, making it a perfect accessory to be used with a laptop. The Canon CanoScan N670U features an optical resolution of 600 dots per inch. The scanner is equipped with a tiny plastic stand, so that you can mount it upright.

If used in the proper way, the N670U is capable of delivering excellent results. Critics of the CIS technology argue that the output it produces is inferior compared to CCD scanners; however, CanoScan is an exception. The scanner performs marvelously on various kinds of scanning jobs, including nonstop tone color prints as well as screened photos and text. The only drawback is its substandard reproduction capability as the original is not completely even alongside the glass.

The N670U comes with a first class software, which is easy to install and makes it easy to operate the scanner. Three panel buttons are provided on the front and there is a desktop ScanGear Toolbox function to provide you with easy one-touch utility. The software package consists of Photobase archival software, ArcSoft PhotoStudio 2000 graphics editing and Omnipage OCR application.

Overall, the CanoScan N670U is an outstanding, pocketsize scanner that is ideal for small offices and home users that are restricted by budget and space. Thanks to a slender design and a single wire for both data and power, the printer takes up minimal space on your desk, while providing a range of reachable scanning options. The plug-and-play function and the USB connector will get you started in an instant, while you can print, copy images and e-mail using the one-touch buttons without the need to check with the user manual. The scanner can go with Windows 98, 2000, XP, ME, plus Macintosh 8.6 and higher. Canon offers a 1-year warranty on components and service.

The trend setting CanoScan N650U projects a new age for scanning industry. Promising exceptional performances, modernization and distinction, handing you the privilege to earn your money’s worth with hardly any effort at all. It offers astounding performances despite being only an inch high, naming it the small wonder.

Its sleek appearance might be intimidating at first sight, but setting it up does not require the skills of a pro. The CanoScan can be managed by just about anyone; a simple USB cord is all you need to set it up. The same USB cord can be used for the power source as well, avoiding unnecessary cable mess-ups and hefty transformers, such as AC adapters. It is also adaptable for both PC and Mac users, allowing universal accessibility.

The Canon Canoscan N650U offers a 42-bit resolution with over 4 trillion colors to choose from, resulting in vivid and vigorous scans. It offers a remarkable resolution of 600 by 1200 dpi allowing for crispier, clear-cut images. Aside from colors it can even scan in shades of gray with enhanced text. Despite its appearance the CanoScan N650U speeds up work by promoting the one-touch scanning feature, through a programmable button on the exterior. So goes the saying: Great things come in the smallest packages.

This Canon scanner comes with a unique Z-lid Expandable Top bringing about a change to the way to scan bulkier items. Most scanners do not come with adjustable covers, fixed lids become awkward to handle when scanning hefty items. The Canon scanner comes with an exclusive expandable hinge that lifts the lid vertically while still laying flat making it easier to scan bulky articles that aren’t entirely flat such as magazines and books.

It is multifunctional and can automatically print out images once connected to a CanoScan printer. It weighs only 3.1 lbs making it easier to move around and uses contact-image-sensors as the basic element producing clearer images. It also works with the most basic operating system such as the Windows 98 and Windows 2000 Professional, making it easy to use for just about anyone. As for the Macintosh System users, it is compatible with Mac OS or an iBook™. It comes with several different types of software such as ArcSoft PhotoBase, ScanGear Toolbox and driver and PhotoStudio 2000 providing a wider range of functions and features to the users. It is truly remarkable and definitely worth its money.

The CanoScan LiDe 30 is exactly what you need if you are looking for a high-resolution yet accessible scanner. Negative film scanners can be considerably pricey therefore it is crucial that you get your money’s worth. With the development of negative film scanners, it becomes rather challenging to choose between types and get the best deal without having to compromise your finished work.

The Canon CanoScan LiDe 30 promises a standout performance with a 1200 x 2400 dots per inch resolution, and a brilliant color reproduction, selecting from a vast color palette with over a trillion colors. Not only does it offer a standout resolution, the CanoScan LiDe 30 also covers all the latest features in its diminutive figure. This Canon scanner not only scans pictures, it can also copy documents and work as an email server.

It has a sleek and compact design, measuring at 256 x 383 x 34 mm, topped with a captivating metallic blue colored lid. Attractiveness aside it is also fairly accessible as it comes with a stand allowing images to be scanned and stored with the scanner in a vertical position, making it the smallest installation imprint in the world. Aside from that, its breakthrough Z-lid makes scanning textbooks and magazines as simple as scanning pictures.

It serves as a multipurpose device including three EZ performance buttons that allow easy approach to the most used features. The ‘’scan’’ mode saves the already scanned images with a simple push of a button. Once connected to the CanoScan LiDe 30 printer you can easily print out the images by hitting the ‘’copy’’ button, and hitting ‘’email’’ converts the scanned images into specified sized attachments ready to be emailed.

Tired of spending needless hours scanning one image after the other? The multi-photo mode feature in the CanoScan is designed to over-come specifically that problem, allowing several pictures to be scanned in one pass, saving that much time without having to worry about the quality of the print.

It also comes with several software applications such as PhotoBase and Arcsoft PhotoStudio enabling you to work around your images to create your desired output. Furthermore it is as simple to connect as it is to use, with a simple plug ‘n’ play cable connection. The USB port provides a single connection for the transfer of both data and power, making CanoScan attractive, time saving and easy to access.
